The most important events and noteworthy interviews of the past few days, accompanied with my thoughts and comments.

This event doesn’t need introduction – Russian President Vladimir Putin has conducted his 10th traditional annual live Q&A. As I stress every year it happens, I’d like to see any Western leader to pull a 4 hour live event, with un-anticipated questions directed at you. I can tell you with absolute confidence – none of them is capable of anything even remotely close. As it stands, ALL Western heads of state are terrified of direct and unsensored communication with their citizens and global public opinion. Just picture what would happen IF Obama, or Merkel, or…. fill in the blank – attempted this kind of feat. Would the whole world finally see that ‘the king is naked?’ You decide.

      It is a little sad how transparent US games have become. Cuba embargo cancelled at the very same time as anti-Russian sanctions are expanded and Crimea embargo announced.           Why did it happen, and why now? I plan a separate article about fracking in the US, Ukraine, EU and world in general, including predictions.

          In my articles about the shale hoax in Ukraine I wrote that shale gas reserves in Eastern Ukraine have been grossly overstated by the US and Canadian fracking companies in order to get their hands on foreign territories. This is one of the reasons for the E. Ukraine tragedy as the greedy Ukraine’s oligarchs are conducting a bloody war against their own citizens in Donbass, hoping for mega-profits from shale gas exploitation. Recently, US shale companies had to admit that they also grossly overstated Europe’s shale gas reserves. For example, Romania’s reserves, touted as huge, turned out to be negligible. Shale is one of the hopes of the US to get out of the present crisis that is becoming more and more difficult to camouflage.           Europeans with sense are worried their continent is being manipulated by US to provoke Russia, therefore increasing the risk of a new hot war on the continent. German financial expert Dirk Muller during a confrence re. Ukraine conflict cites Brzezinski: ‘Europe is America’s forpost in Eurasia.’ Muller calls on Merkel to stop escalating, as that would lead to war in Europe.

          ADDED – Two news from France:

          1. 400 Russian sailors, who were waiting in France for the training and transfer of the 2 Mistral carriers Russia paid for, have left home as again France failed to deliver on its contract. As we well know, and I wrote about that in earlier articles, France is under unprecedented pressure from US, Poland, and I strongly suspect, secretly from Merkel, to forfeit the Mistral contract. Various Russian officials earlier said that Russia didn’t care one way or the other, as the country has decided to rebuild and fortify internal ship-building severely damaged during the ’90s. Buying foreign ships isn’t a priority any more. Russia is set to go to court to demand compensation for the money pre-paid on the contract + penalties for broken contract. This is a big loss for France, albeit anticipated, as French authorities knew the spread going in.

          2. French president Hollande is again attempting to play a peacemaker between Russia and the West, proposing a de-escalation of sanctions and a restart of a dialogue. We must remember, Hollande already attempted this feat when he invited Putin to the Normandy landing celebrations in May, 2014. Since De Gaulle and even before him, France often traditionally served as a bridge and broker of understanding between Russia and Western Europe. Hallande is attempting to play this traditional role.           Sure, Hollande needs to look good in front of his electorate unhappy with US/Brussels/Germany’s policies towards Russia. Both Sarkozi and Marine Le Pen are breathing down his neck. This is part of the reason he makes such effort. Yet, regardless of all the politics, I still say it’s brave of Hollande to try to play a peacemaker, considering the heavy arm-twisting US/UK and their vassals perform on those who deviate from their line. US has been known to threaten and severely punish those who try to be friendly with Russia.

          Sadly, US and its vassals have been allowed to take over the EU completely in the past 25 years. This is visible all over Europe, even in traditionally pro-Russian countries like Bulgaria, or in seemingly neutral ones, such as Sweden. This is the result of the wholesale demolition of the USSR and equally wholesale bashing campaign against Russia in the past 23 years.

          Twice in the 20th century Europe has already made a mistake of allowing extremely violent and manipulative forces to take it over, resulting in WWI and WWII. Europe should be careful not to allow yet another repeat of the same.
