Comments coming. Having too much fun reading right now. And map-checking. This material needs a little academic sweat. The rat hole now has 1000 Watt Lada Lights installed. Does everybody know “Lada” is the Slavic Goddess of Beauty? Truth is also beautiful. It has its own vibration and makes a person feel more safe and empowered.

Another thrilling read, Lada. And that, despite the fact that I know some of the background!
I visited Odessa for the first (and what looks like the only) time a couple of years before the coup d’etat in Ukraine. Nothing was foreshadowing the coming violence. A quiet city, where everyone speaks either Russian or that charming Odessa dialect. Friendly people. Green boulevards. Trams. Opera house. Old houses of the Classic architecture. The seaside.
The only thing that was metaphorical of the time, is that many of the houses in the centre, while having a presentable façade, were hollow on the inside, the floors having been demolished/rotted away, and all the money that could have gone for renovations, stolen.

Nemo, your Odessa impressions sound just right – sadly. Believe me, it was a lot better the way I remember it.
The last 23-4 years of ‘independence’ resulted in wholesale looting of all of Ukraine. There is less and less left to loot.
Let’s just be honest: criminals in power hope to sell off what’s still left to US and EU investors, in the hopes of pocketing whatever will be paid by said investors for Odessa ports, or by US government for the land and base. After that, they all dream about splitting and leaving the population in the cold. Or, there is another scenario – more later.
The cynicism of these criminals is off the charts. This is why US and EU are just dumb to encourage and support these criminals!
And the end result of all this is predictable – catastrophe. The West began Ukraine subversion, genuinely thinking it would damage Russia, while benefiting them. EU hoped Ukraine problems wouldn’t touch them – no dice, it’s getting closer and closer to their backyard. US is still hoping it’ll pass them by because of being on the other side of the pond – big illusion. It’s coming back to haunt them in due course.
How? There are many ways. I’ll touch on a few in Crimean Agenda.
