As the US announces its Afghanistan withdrawal, first thing that jumps at me is the exact repeat of the pattern the USSR displayed before its collapse. As they say, ‘Afghanistan is where empires go to die.’ Dark, but so far historically has been proven true.

But as you know, the UK is the WESTERNMOST tip of Europe and Eurasia, and it is a historic embodiment of the ‘WEST’ as a notion. Therefore, per my original predictions, its PERIOD 9 will be quite problematic and no matter what they do, the loss of relevancy and Great Rebalancing will be felt in the UK very dramatically.

NEW PREDICTIONS IN REGARDS TO RUSSIA AND CHINA!
However, some small harm and irritation the UK will be able to cause. But this could be good for China, but especially Russia.
Why? Because the UK and US (and West in general) are supposed to play the role of the GREAT AGITATORS! This is necessary because Russia – the YIN/YANG Balancer wants to keep the status quo, aka, balance, and that could lead to complacency. In Russia’s case it has led to complacency in the past that cost dearly.

Conclusion:
If you recall, in ESW17 and ESW19 I talked how China is a part of the Grand Armchair of Eurasia and how China is fast becoming the second GREAT BALANCER and second major YIN-YANG force on the planet!

Of course, now Russia will be doing it differently, demanding accountability of the local elites, who are used to tremendous corruption.
How much Russia subsidized many of the exes during the USSR – it’s mindboggling! I’ll share a very telling statistics of how the exes overconsumed and underproduced, while Russians under-consumed and overproduced in order to give to the republics. Central Asia was always a weak link and it was always turbulent. But it’s literally the center of Eurasia, and only by Russia controlling it (maybe together with China) is it possible to build a unified Eurasia and the Silk Roads of tomorrow!
Make no mistake, this usually forgotten region – the weak link of Eurasia – plays a crucial role in the Great Rebalancing!

New Silk Road: From Europe to China by Russian high speed railroad in 2 days

Russian Railways is working on the concept of a cargo train, which will be capable to carry from 300 to 600 tonnes of cargos at a speed up to 300 km per hour.

Cargo transit shipments from Europe to China by Russian high-speed railway will take two days instead of 60 days by sea, President of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov said speaking at a meeting of the United Russia faction.
“We plan to reach China via Kazakhstan and to carry special high profit cargos to Europe via Russia, because a ship sails now 60 days, which is a long time. It sails round India and only than arrives to Europe. With a high speed (railway) transport we will be able to deliver goods in two days, and to earn extra money for our country,” he said.
Russian Railways’ main task for 2017 is the launch of the project and the start of the construction of the Moscow-Kazan high speed railway.
The Moscow-Kazan High Speed Railway’s total length will stand at around 770 kilometers. Trains may go at a speed of 350-400 kilometers per hour, and the time en route between the two cities could be 3-3.5 hours against the current 14 hours. According to Belozerov the railroad may be commissioned before 2022-2023.
The total cost of the Moscow-Kazan high-speed railway line is estimated at 1.068 trillion rubles ($16.8 bln). The Moscow-Kazan section may later be extended to China, connecting the two countries across Kazakhstan. According to the Russian Railways, the length of Moscow-Beijing railroad will be 7769 km, travel time – 32.8 hours (four times faster compared to current 130.4 hours). The average annual passenger traffic is estimated at 195 mln people.
China intends to provide 400 bln rubles ($6.5 bln) for the project of Moscow-Kazan high speed railway as a credit for 20 years and more than 100 bln rubles ($1.6 bln) as a contribution to the charter capital of the special project company.
The German Initiative Consortium (includes Siemens, Deutsche Bank, Deutsche Bahn and other companies) is ready to allocate 2.7 bln euros to finance the construction of the high-speed railway line and to attract up to 800 mln euros for the project.

Despite ban, Belarus Team Clandestinely Carries Russian flag into Rio Paralympics

It’s the ‘Belorussian conspiracy,’ as the West immediately touted it! But even if banned for their act of defiance, Belorussain athletes have already won something that no money can buy: they won the admiration of their country and they won the hearts of Russians for their bravery! And isn’t it what the TRUE spirit of Olympics supposed to be about? Too bad the TRUE spirit of sport is conspicuously absent from #Rio2016 Olympics and Paralympics.

Paralympic whistleblowers reported that president of Paralympic Committee, a British national and first-rate Russophobe Lord Craven (and note how well his name depicts his essence!), admitted that the overriding goal of banning Russian Paralympians was that ‘Russian flag would not fly at Rio Paralympics.’ Craven also remarked that if IOC was unable to ban entire Russian team, he was determined to finish the job.
In other words, like in the old fable about a wolf preparing to eat an innocent lamb, the only fault of Russian Paralympians was that the wolf was hungry.
Surely, there is a very good reason for any Russophobe to be afraid of the Russian flag flying at Paralympics: Russian para-athletes rose to the top very quickly and won hands down both London and Sochi Paralympics. If Russian team isn’t there, then US and UK teams are on top and medals for them become easy pickings. But as I asked before, how much are such cheat-medals worth without top para-athletes competing?
Of course, this is just a cherry on top. The real reason for banning Russian team is to destabilize Russian society by creating an element of discontent (along with other elements of discontent through sanctions, ruble and oil price drop, etc.). The ultimate goal is to hurt United Russia’s chances of winning September 18 Duma elections, thus weakening Putin’s support just over one year before Russian Presidential Elections of 2018.
But so far previous plans of the US/UK/West have backfired. So did this one.
In the absence of Russia at Rio Paralympics the Belarus team has picked up the torch, so to speak, and carried Russian flag at the opening ceremony.
Oops, so much for the ‘Russian flag not flying at Rio Paralympics.’
Way to go, BelaRUS!
ADDED: I just learned from Life.ru that Belarus Paralympians advised in advance the Belorussian President Lukashenko of their intention to bring Russian flag to the Opening Ceremony of the Rio Games, despite direct ban of Paralympic Committee. Lukashenko reportedly supported the idea: ‘If they decide to punish us, we are ready. We won’t sell out our brothers (Russians),’ said Lukashenko. The Russian flag was brought into the opening ceremony in secret by Andrey Fomochkin on his body. He unveiled the flag when Belarus team entered the Rio stadium. Belorussian papers touted Fomochkin’s act as a real man’s deed.
Newest info: Paralympic Committee confiscated Russian flag and began investigation into the incident. It already punished the Athletic Director of Belarus team Andrey Fomochkin, denying his Rio accreditation.
However, both Andrey Fomochkin and Belorussian Paralympians won something already, which no money or status can buy: they won the hearts of Russians. Russian Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called Fomochkin a hero. Belarus government spokesman said that the country was 100% behind its athletes. There is no proof of any wrongdoing by Russian para-athletes, he added.
Meanwhile Russia is preparing a number of lawsuits and personal damages legal actions in European courts against Paralympic Committee, WADA, USADA, Lord Craven and McLaren. Russia also repeatedly said that Paralympics and WADA took the wrong turn and that they need to be reformed.
ADDED! More new details emerge: Andrey Fomochkin was only able to carry the Russian flag for 1/4 of the Rio stadium when it was taken away from him and he was banned on the spot. Too late: it was enough for a ton of pics to get taken and to flood the net! Later, one more Belarus team member’s accreditation was taken away. So far most of the team is still there, but the members brace themselves for more sanctions!
This is why I have said all along: ONLY the alternative competition and alternative games, such as Eurasian or Friendship Games will solve the problem. Or resurrect the once mega-successful Good Will Games!
But again, I must stress that the pressure on Russia will continue until after the 18th – the date of the Duma elections (see below re. my upcoming Russian Elections Earth Shift Report!).

Another inspiring moment: earlier during Rio Olympics Russian and Ukrainian athletes posed and embraced together to demonstrate their friendship and solidarity. It happened exactly as predicted in Brazil Color Revolution: Lada Ray Report & Predictions!
Once they’ve got her, they won’t let her go!
Brazil senate’s clear majority voted to impeach President Dilma Rousseff, removing her from power. The pro-US right-wing Michel Temer will serve the rest of her term as president till 2018. RT video link.
US analysts tout Brazil as ‘vibrant democracy.’ I see it just a tiny bit differently: Dilma Rousseff, president voted into power by 54 million Brazilians, has been removed from power by 81 senators. This is a slow and incidiously quiet state coup, which has nothing to do with democracy (read full analysis in the report linked above).
There are many parallels with Ukraine and the 2014 coup. Albeit, Brazilian coup is so far a great deal more peaceful.
Meanwhile, who are the judges? 60% of Brazil senate members and lawmakers are under investigation for corruption.
Will Brazilian people wake up and protest? Is anti-color revolution possible?
They will probably protest, and perhaps even vigorously. Alas, it’s a little late. They’d missed their best chance, which they had when the whole thing began. Incidentally, the same way as Ukrainians missed their chance to nip the Kiev coup in the bud in 2014.
It’s too late to revert back to the past. At this point, the country will have to go through a full cycle of learning from its mistakes. Dilma may have another chance in 2018, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. US and pro-US forces had worked years on orchestrating this coup. Once they got power into their hands, they won’t let it go that easily. It’ll take years for Brazil to redefine itself and reshape its economy, finances, social relations. I can only hope that after vigorous soul-searching Brazil will come out of this crisis a winner.
However, for the next few years I expect Brazil to be one huge mess (this is for those clients who have asked me if it was a good idea to move to Brazil).

This has been in the making for years, especially intensified since Armenia joined Eurasian Union. I’d warned about it since 2014. The details and proof have emerged of a deep and hands-on involvement of the US State Dept and CIA in the destabilization of Armenia. The info has been released by the Association of Armenians Abroad. The organization warns Armenian government that it’s on collision course with repeating a Ukraine scenario.

A similar disclosure regarding US activity in Donbass has been made by a different source. This disclosure is about an arm of USAID and UKAID (UK arm), an NGO called ‘People in Need.’ This organization recently asked for license to ‘help people of Donbass.’ Donetsk/DNR authorities authorised their permit. The independent investigators have discovered that ‘People in Need’ has been involved in subversive activity and anti-Russian propaganda in several countries, including Czechia, Ukraine and Russia. Under the guise of humanitarian help in Donetsk and vicinity, they recruit anti-Russian propagandists, internet trolls/shills and sleeper terrorist cells.

New Armenia Color Revolution Attempt Begins!
This happened on Sunday, July 17, 2016:
One person was killed when armed men stormed a police station in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, on Sunday. Police have surrounded the building and are negotiating with the group, who took several hostages. The Yerevan’s and country’s deputy chiefs of police were taken hostage, among others. The internet in the country is also currently down.

Ruptly is LIVE from Yerevan on the fourth day of a hostage siege on Wednesday, July 20, after an armed group stormed a police station in the Armenian capital and took control of the building on Sunday, July 17. One person was killed and several injured during Sunday’s attack. Soldiers have been dispatched to surround the building and police have continued negotiating with the group.
Armenia’s Deputy Police Chief General Major Vardan Egiazaryan and Yerevan’s Deputy Chief of Police Valeri Osipyan are believed to be among the hostages. Two hostages were reportedly freed on Tuesday, July 19, with seven or eight believed to remain inside. Local media are reporting that the group, which calls itself the ‘Daredevils of Sassoun,’ is demanding the release of jailed opposition leader Jirayr Sefilyan, who was arrested in June for illegal arms trafficking, as well as the release of other political prisoners, including Gevorg Safaryan, Valodia Avedisyan, and Shant Haroutynyan.

This post should be read in conjunction with my previous Deadly Extremist Attack in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The situation in Armenia and Kazakhstan – previously two of the most stable members of Eurasian Union – is escalating. The events in these two former Soviet republics, one located between Central Asia and Siberia and another in Caucasus, mirror each other and are connected. The real target in both cases is the weakening of Eurasian Union, and consequently, weakening of Russia.
The events in Armenia are retaliation for Armenia joining Eurasian Union, coupled with the goal of destabilization of Caucasus and punishment of Russia for successes in Syria, Turkey and the Middle East. Kazakhstan is being punished for being a founding member of EAEU, plus Nazarbayev’s key role in bringing to fruition the reconciliation of Russia and Turkey.

Deadly Extremist Attack in Almaty, Kazakhstan
This is the continuation of attacks in Kazakhstan, which we discussed in Earth Shift Report 9: ATTACK ON KAZAKHSTAN. WHO DESTABILIZES EURASIAN UNION?
On July 17, 2016 armed group of extremists attacked the city center and police station in Almaty. Per reports, 4 policemen are dead.
In Earth Shift Report 9 you’ve watched my video compilation for the previous attacks in Aktobe earlier in June and the attempted color revolution in May. The compilation was composed of raw amateur videos shot by various citizens and then uploaded on YouTube. This new compilation is similar.
The new events confirm that the attempts to destabilize Kazakhstan – one of the important support elements of the Eurasian/global rebalancing system and the support system for Russia, the Global Balancer – will continue.

All-Ukraine Krestniy Khod (pilgrimage) for Peace in Donbass: a beautiful and heroic event – very much needed, which is completely ignored in the West. Tens of thousands of people walk on foot across Ukraine from both west and east to converge in Kiev, despite their lives being threatened by ukro-nazis and Kiev junta. While all this goes on – guess what! The West is completely silent, which only means one thing: it is complicit. I have a tight schedule, but I’ll try to have a comprehensive post about this important event around July 27-28, when it’s scheduled to converge in Kiev.

Slippery Road to WWIII! Moldavian Deputies Try to Block US Tanks From Entering Moldova
This is breaking news! On this TODAY’S video, made at the Romania – Moldova border, you can see Moldavian parliament deputies / members of Igor Dodon’s Party of Socialists trying to block US tanks and armed vehicles from entering Moldova. The delay was only temporary and all that stuff did roll into the country. So far a total of 58 US tanks and other military vehicles entered Moldavia from several border points.
Dear Americans!
Please take a look at who’s manning these vehicles – as you well see, these are your co-citizens! What business do they have thousands of miles away from your country, meddling in another country’s affairs, which most of you will never be able to find on the map??!
I’ll add to it that the country in question borders strategic Russian-protected territories. In Moldavia itself at least half of the population is Russian-speaking. Now, tell me: why are your tanks there?

I happen to agree with the opinion (at least, this part of it) of the leader of Moldavia’s “Nasha Partia’ Renato Usatii. See on this video:
To paraphrase what he says: This is akin to what happened on June 22, 1941 (attack by Nazi Germany on USSR at 4am), when people were still asleep, or preparing to take children for a walk, or getting ready for a day of relaxation… Moldavia today is on holiday mode, and many people are believers (LR: Orthodox Paskha/Easter coincided with May 1 holiday). Everyone is relaxed, not paying attention. They took advantage of the holiday mode to sneak their tanks into the country.
US/West are attempting to ‘subvert’ Moldova, like Ukraine before that. They are trying to create a civil war in Moldova. We are being blamed for being pro-Russian, told that NATO will protect us from Russian tanks. Yet, as we see today, it’s not Russian tanks that are rolling into Moldova. Together with the sold-out Moldavian government, West is trying to turn Moldova into yet another battlefield in which to settle their score with Russia.
US is trying to ignite a conflict inside Moldova, fracture the country, leading to civil war. They also cover for the regime of the bandits in power. (LR: as discussed in my earlier comprehensive Moldavia protests report, last year $1 bln was stolen from Moldovan banks by those in power, and the money was laundered offshore.)
I concur with these conclusions by Renato Usatii. As I wrote in my Odessa Report and Ukraine Report, the May Holidays, consisting of May 1 and May 9/Victory Day, are widely celebrated in all of post-Soviet space.
To echo what he says, I’ll add that US/West are desperately trying to create yet another unresolved conflict around Russia and post-Soviet space. This is yet another attempt to reformat people’s memory and consciousness.
During this delicate and turbulent time in nearby Ukraine and all over the world, US/EU/NATO are trying to destabilize Moldavia. They are trying to stoke yet another hybrid war near Russian borders, to impinge on Russian interests in the region. If you look at the maps below, you will see that Moldova borders the breakaway Pridnestrovie (Transnistria), with Russian peacekeepers stationed there.
Should US and Romania – who is licking its lips, attempting to swallow Pridnestrovie and Moldova – provoke yet another conflict in Pridnestrovie, the consequences could be dire for all. Pridnestrovie is populated with at least 200,000 Russian citizens, out of a total of 500,000 population. NATO destabilizing Pridnestrovie automatically means WWIII.
You’ll also see from the map that Moldova borders Odessa Oblast, and Ukraine in general.

The overwhelming opposition to NATO and US presence in Moldova is well-known. The puppet government is forced to make their decisions and confirm the country’s PM in secret. The country went, and continues going, through massive anti-government protests.
However, I will add to this what I said in previous Moldova pieces: the fact that opposition is dis-united and constantly fights with each other is not serving any good. The recent conflict between Dodon/Socialists, and Renato Usatii/Nasha Partia caused yet another split, further weakening the protests.
In case Igor Dodon, Renato Usatii, or any of their friends are reading this: my advice to you all is to UNITE as soon as possible! This also applies to Gagauzians. Bury all your differences, be mutually respectful of each other, stop pulling the blanket to your side, share it with your friends. Work together, not apart and against each other!
This is the only way to achieve your goals of coming to power, saving Moldavian economy and establishing Moldova as a sovereign state, friendly to all neighbors!

Presently independent, Montenegro is a former part of Yugoslavia and Serbia. Being located in the middle of NATO’s domain – the Mediterranean – next to other NATO members, having no army of its own and being a small country with not much of an economy, Montenegro has no strategic value for NATO whatsoever.
Because of that Montenegro had been left alone all these years. Suddenly, last year PM Đukanović announced that the country would be joining NATO. Why, you may ask, if there is no value to Montenegro being a NATO member?
There is one overriding reason: Montenegro’s economic and cultural ties to Russia! Due to the closeness of culture and mentality, lots of Russians go to Montenegro for Mediterranean vacations, many Russians have vacation properties there, plus, Russian business is a very significant part of Montenegro’s GDP. In fact, local economy only survives based on Russian business and tourism – take that away and people may starve.
And surprise! The announcement of Montenegro’s sudden urge to join NATO occurred right after Russia went into Syria and Russian jets managed to achieve in two weeks what US and allies couldn’t achieve in a year.
It became clear that the plan to drag Montenegro into NATO was an attempt to get back at Russia for Syria (and let’s not forget the ongoing quest to get back at Russia for Crimea and Donbass). If NATO bases and such move into Montenegro, Russian business and tourism would have to leave. As a matter of fact, it’s already leaving.
What was clear to me and many analysts, as well as the Russian government, wasn’t lost on the Montenegrin population either.
There are close similarities between Moldavia and Montenegro. In Moldavia Explodes! Anti-EU, Anti-Government Revolt, Parliament Stormed I wrote how Moldavian citizens rebelled against the government corruption, stolen $1 billion and EU association agreement.
Mass protests began in Montenegro around the same time as in Moldavia – October 2015 – and just like in Moldavia, they never stopped since. Both are small countries. While Moldova’s population is about 3.5 million, Montenegro’s is only about 600,000. People in both feel that their governments are crooked and that they are being dragged into certain Western organizations without being asked. Both are angry their governments are sold out to the US/West.
Montenegrin citizens demand resignation of PM and government, and national referendum on NATO. For some ‘strange’ reason both US and EU – these beacons of Western democracy – don’t believe the citizens of Moldavia and Montenegro deserve to exercise their democratic rights.
Protests in Montenegro have continued without any breaks since last October, despite cold winter. Thousands, and even tens of thousands, have been protesting daily. The government continues ignoring its citizens’ demands.
Montenegrin protests, and generally, the situation in the Balkans, is a part of The Big Battle for Eurasia! All this will be discussed in the upcoming ESR8: BLACK SEA GAMBIT. Stay tuned!

This just in!
I very rarely post videos with direct weapons usage on my blog. But this is one exception. I thought this impressive video was worth posting as it demonstrates clearly how the conflict in Syria is developing. It also shows that Russia is serious about both dealing with ISIL – Daesh and with showing who is in control of the situation.
In ESR5: SYRIA GAME CHANGER we’d discussed the surprise Russian cruise missile strikes from Caspian Sea. This is something new and it sends another signal. What is this signal, and what’s really going on around Syria and Turkey?
I have received many requests from readers to address what is happening and how to interpret that UK, Germany, US and others have sent troops and/or suddenly decided to bomb Syria. There are reports of the US bombing Syrian government troops (deaths reported) under the pretext of bombing Islamist ISIL/Daesh. On another note, Turkey began illegal ground invasion of Iraq, citing the ‘protection of Kurds’ and infuriating the Iraqi government.
All these aren’t isolated accidents. One of our readers suggested it reminded him of the 19th century Crimean War, where Turkey, UK, France and other Western powers ganged up on Russia.
To me it’s much more like the 1941-1945 Great War (Western: World War II). What do I mean? All to be explained in the upcoming ESR7!
The connections between all of the above, plus the downing of the Russian jet in Syria and Russian civilian plane’s bombing in Sinai Egypt, are clear. Together with what’s happening in Ukraine, Crimea, Moldova, Armenia, Turkey, Central Asia and the Balkans, these are all parts of the huge battle for the control of Eurasia. The biggest battles are fought in several historically volatile energy knots: Middle East, Balkans, and Caspian – Black Sea basins. All of these areas are in fact next to each other and are historically inter-connected.
I see them all as one large planetary tension center. Together they constitute the most vulnerable point, or what is called the ‘soft underbelly of Russia.’ In addition, these areas target the destabilization of China and India.
This is why the world’s biggest geopolitical and military shocks will continue in these parts, and this is why peace that we all hope for will be difficult to achieve in these parts for a while. In fact the crisis will deepen – it’ll get worse before it gets better.
As we have observed, the crisis has spilled into the most well-to-do and quiet areas of Europe in the form of the refugee crisis. But someone is orchestrating this crisis. If you think it’s Erdogan and Turkey – that’s only on the surface.

This new report should be treated as the continuation and logical progression of ESR5: SYRIA GAME CHANGER. It’ll pick up where the former left off.
It is also a logical development of ESR6: UKRAINE – NEW KHAZARIAN KHAGANATE?
THE BATTLE FOR EURASIA may become a new series of reports. We’ll see how my readers like this one. If you do enjoy it, please write testimonials on FT after you’ve read it, and perhaps in future ESRs I’ll be able to reveal the clandestine developments and convoluted games played in other important areas of Eurasia!
I plan to release ESR7 by the end of this week (early next week the very latest), so you all have plenty of time to read and digest it well before the holidays.
Let’s hope that nothing extremely terrible happens during this holiday season and we can at least relax and have a nice Christmas/New Year’s celebration with our families!
