RUSSIAN MUSIC & FILM FESTIVAL

ТЁМНАЯ НОЧЬ – The DARK NIGHT

with ENG SUBS!

Another immortal song, written at the darkest of nights, during the Great Patriotic War/WWII. A story of a man in the trenches, who finds solace in the memory of his wife and baby back home, and because his wife is waiting for him, no bullet will touch him. A haunting, romantic music of the higher energy of love overcoming death, beautifully blended through the usage of diverse voices, instruments and sights from all over Russia and beyond! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!

You’ll generally find that most Russian songs created during that brutal war are about peace and love, and how the world’s most incomprehensible evil and impossible adversity are overcome through the higher Russian spirit!

The song was given a new life by Timur Vedernikov’s all-USSR flashmob I mentioned in the previous Russian Festival entries. Thanks to the generous sponsorship by the Russian energy giant RosAtom, we can enjoy it with very good English subs.

Случайный вальс – ACCIDENTAL WALTZ!

with ENG SUBS!

I love waltzes, and this is one my favorite Russian songs of all time. Written in the early 1940s, during the brutal WWII and invasion of Russia by German Nazis, it is ageless, being one of the most romantic, positive and love-inspiring songs ever.

The song was given a new life by Timur Vedernikov’s all-USSR flashmob I mentioned in the SMUGLIANKA/festival opening post. Thanks to the generous sponsorship by the Russian energy giant RosAtom, we can enjoy it with very good English subs.

Both the tune and lyrics are romantic, sweet and haunting, and it’s amazing how seamlessly they blended different voices, musical instruments, tones and tempos from all corners of Russia and the former USSR republics. The scenery is also magnificent, as professional and aspiring musicians, as well as simple people whole love to sing and play, come together! Below the video I’ll give you some highlights!
