Better than a thriller! Documentary: CRIMEA. WAY BACK HOME

New documentary alert! Another recent Russian documentary that is highly recommended and must watch. This film is so good that I simply have to tell my readers about it!

Crimea. Road to Motherland (aka, Way Back Home). Film by Andrey Kondrashov

The film includes an eye-opening reconstruction of the events on Kiev maidan and how the participants of the Kiev anti-maidan from Crimea, who came to express their viewpoint, were brutally hunted down and eliminated (very little known and remembered violent suppression of an alternative point of view by the Ukrainian beacon of Western democracy). Events leading up to Crimea’s vote for independence, including attempts by well-trained thugs from Kiev maidan and groups of radical local Tatars to take over Crimea, how unarmed people rose against armed Ukrainian SBU and army, the appearance of the “little green men” and their role, how Ukrainian army switched to the Russian side; to top it all off, operation ‘Yanukovich’ – how Ukraine president had 30 minutes to live and how he was whisked away. The whole movie is punctuated with candid and super-revealing interviews with Vladimir Putin, who tells the truth as it is about his personal role and personal control over the Crimea events (incidentally, as I predicted from the start).

Way better than most thrillers! 2.5 hours watched with dated breath. 7 million have already watched this film on YT. Honestly, the best documentary I have seen.

    Wonderful that you found a version with English subtitles (I understand its a volunteer translation). I heard that official translations are prepared into many different languages.

    Thanks a million for letting us know about this.
    Really interesting documentary.
    I learned a lot from it. Great to finally be able to understand all the details, how they inter-related, and how they unfolded.
    Very well-made.
    Like you said: it really is gripping. (bated breath)
    Nice to see President Vlad so roused and excited as he recounted various incidents and emphasised various important points. Evidently, it was all a very passionate affair for him.
    It’s quite remarkable what Russia managed to do without causing any bloodbath or battle that could cost lives, etc..
    Also, really interesting the way all the various different factions pulled together in Crimea to cooperate so successfully in protecting the project at hand. Impressive!
    Perhaps it genuinely is the beginning of the new paradigm!

    I watched this last night and what I took away most was the military genius of Putin and the way everything just fell into place for the Russian People… like it was angel-directed. I’d like to know more about the Cossacks. Putin seems to have a special liking for them.
